Chairman – Hemant Kumar Jalan
Hemant holds a Bachelors degree from St. Xaviers College and has been involved in business since 1978. His experiences and wisdom are the guiding force behind the business. He has served on the board of Warren Tea, Darjeeling Plantations and various other companies.
Managing Director and Women Director – Anushree Jalan
Anushree holds a Bachelors degree from Presidency College and interests revolve around languages. She is fluent in French, Portuguese and Italian. She has been teaching French for the last 20 years after receiving her diploma in 1989. She has been long associated with the Alliance Francaise and also was a teacher at Bangalore University. Since 2008, she has been fine tuning her Portuguese pursuing certificate classes in Portugal.
Director– Varun Jalan
The youngest addition to the management team joined the family business in 2015. He has been educated at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed a dual degree program - Bachelors of Science (Suma Cum Laude) in Finance And Accounting from the prestigious Wharton School along with a Bachelor of Arts (Magna Cum Laude) from the College of Arts and Sciences. He went on to obtain an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad where he was selected for the prestigious Young Leader Award 2011. He brings to the table broad exposure and a strategic perspective given his two years with Oliver Wyman, a financial services strategy consulting firm in New York and three years strategy consulting with McKinsey & Co. in Mumbai. Varun is based out of Bangalore but commutes to Kolkata monthly and is actively looking into overall management.
Director – Anant Veer Jalan
Having spent a decade with Goldman Sachs in New York and India, he brings an analytical mindset to the table. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the prestigious Wharton Shcool. Anant is based out of Mumbai and is actively managing the group’s public investments through our PMS portfolio – Aquamarine Capital.
Independent Director – Tanmay Chanda
Tanmay is born in Kolkata and is known for his sharp acumen. Despite being young, he has amassed significant knowledge and experience. His expertise in relation to financial and regulatory aspects is much appreciated by the board.
Independent Director – Rajan Malhotra
Rajan is born in Kolkata and has been an observer to the growth of the HK Jalan Group over the years. He lends years of experience in people management and operations to the company.
